Gallery Sales App – For commission based sales with an additional profit split.
This is my first iOS App and should hopefully be available on the App Store soon. I’ve created it for a customer that owns an Art Gallery. When artwork is sold by them for an artist there is a 70/30 percent split of the profits as is common with most Art Galleries.
That would be easy enough to work out but the 30% profit margin is then split four ways between the other members of the group that’s hosting the show and if the credit card machine is used a further 5% is taken away from the 30% before the four way profit share. So this app shows both options.
So yes this can all be done on a spreadsheet but this app gives them a quick ‘at a glance’ way to check.
Disclaimer: It’s mathematically impossible to accurately divide some numbers by four using only two decimal places, so this App rounds down the odd half pennies from the totals. The remaining pennies would be kept by the Gallery and wouldn’t affect the 70% profit given to the artist.
